Great Deals on Fall Vacations and Fall Getaways

Whether your looking for a weekend escape, a long fall vacation or the best 2008 fall color tour, Arcadia Lodge on Big Turtle Lake offers great fall getaways to fit every budget and activity.  Arcadia is located in the Chippewa National Forest along the famed Edge of the Wilderness National Scenic Byway.  The colorful fall foliage here provides many opportunities for fall color driving tours; and our pontoon and boat rentals provide the perfect opportunity to view the fall colors and plentiful wildlife while cruising the crystal clear blue waters of Big Turtle Lake.
Fall fishing is excellent on Big Turtle Lake as the smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and walleye are out in force gorging themselves in preparation for the long winter ahead.  Grouse hunting, deer hunting and bear hunting are also popular pursuits in the area.

Fall is one of the best times to take a romantic getaway.  Our luxurious cabins offer plenty of privacy, serenity and seclusion as well as romantic lake views, fireplaces and thick comfortable bedding.  Our terrific off-season rates make Arcadia Lodge an even more attractive vacation option.  Our on-site restaurant, The Eagles' Nest Dining Room is open thru September 30th on Friday and Saturday evenings from 4 to 8 p.m.

A visit to Arcadia Lodge in the fall isn't complete without a drive up The Edge of the Wilderness National Scenic Byway.  Designated a National Scenic Byway in 1998, State Highway 38 between Grand Rapids and Bigfork winds 47 miles through breathtaking fall colors and around crystal clear blue lakes.  Several turnouts provide access to hiking trails, historic sites and the Chippewa Fall Color Tour.  Some of the points of interest include the Joyce Estates, a 1930 circa estate accessible only by foot; the Suomi Hills Recreation Area - a wonderful hiking and biking trail and the Laurentian Divide.

baldeagle2.jpg (9331 bytes)The Edge of the Wilderness Area is rich in bird viewing.  Don't be surprised to have an eagle soar over your car, a grouse wander across the road or see loons alongside your boat.

This area also boasts thousands of acres of state and federal land open for hunting.  Bear, grouse, deer, ducks, and geese are the most popular game.  But if it's pheasant you're after, there is an excellent game farm just north in Effie.  Although we don't accept pets during the summer, hunting dogs are welcome at Arcadia after Labor Day.

If fall fishing is more your game, we won't disappoint you there.  Big Turtle is an excellent fall lake with great bass and northern action.  Just being on the blue, blue water on a crisp fall day with the colorful leaves reflected on the water is almost enough by itself.

There's always a roaring fire in the lodge fireplace during the fall.Fall is truly a relaxing time of the year here at Arcadia and we offer discounted rates and shorter stays.  The dining room serves Friday through Saturday in the fall until the opening of deer hunting.  You can be sure there will be a roaring fire in the lodge fireplace, great food, and a relaxing atmosphere.

We hope you will take some time to relax this fall - come visit us!
